This online course is designed to develop the cultural competency of both clinical and non-clinical staff, in order to improve healthcare communication, delivery and outcomes, with patients from different cultures. After completing this course, you will be able to:
- Define culture and cultural competence in healthcare
- Identify your own cultural filters and biases, and how they impact patients
- Describe 5 key differences between high and low context cultures and their impact on healthcare delivery and outcomes
- Recognize healthcare barriers for minority and LEP (limited English proficiency) patients
